They allow us to think thoughts that we wouldn't have had ourselves. But are they a resource that we can tap in to? And is it even possible to be intentionally unintentional? During my thesis studies at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo I set out to answer these questions. I carried out my investigation with a range of creative experiments that were informed by the random and uncontrollable conditions.
