Fall 2017

By designing a rock cycle I set out to manually synthesize my own stone.

Sawstone Recipe
1. cast concrete in randomly sourced molds
2. chop into pieces using watersaw
3. use pieces as aggregate in concrete cast
4. repeat to build texture

Upon each iteration of the cycle the cross section of the stone grew richer in detail. The seventh cast was made in the shape of a table and the top was planed down to reveal the texture within.
